I forgot to turn my snorkel top rearwards on a recent greenlaning trip till part way through and it vacuumed the bushes, this is the air filter box

Oh yes, it has a grill, it's just that when the snorkel is ploughing through the foliage on tight lanes it's all going to get sucked in. |

I meant to add that snorkels arn't really designed to operate in greenlanes, they're ultimately designed for wading and desert conditions, not for being pushed through bushes |

You get cooler air in the snork being higher up(why they fit then in hot climates ,also away from "some" dust)
Torrential rain has never been a problem no matter how bad with it facing forward. The head has channels in to drain away any water.
If very dusty/dry as it can be on some lanes ,I would turn head back as it can gather inside as I found out after a very dry dusty peaks run.Mine has always been forward facing for a few year, issue free(apart from dust once) but like 1st post if dense with leaves its wise to turn head back |
