Have any of you used one before and if so what was your experience.
Ive been offered one and it sounds great for when kids are in need or for the night time instead of trawling through the fields looking for the toilet block but hygiene wise having it as part of the tent or next too may not be the best thing in the world and
as for a windy day i hate to think how that would be. |

Ask Richie's missus - she always says something about having to sleep next to a poo ......
Yes, they will do the Job, so to speak .... just locate em downwind of your tent etc ... and empty them regularly - seen them at festivals and we used to set them up when I was doing Event management at show grounds, sporting events etc for crew

on ly hygiene isssue is making sure you have some wet wipes available for them to clean their hands after use.
the chemicals keep it odour free.
you will find it a great addition to your camping gear when you have kids! |

this is hillarious...
before flushing portable toilets were invented, the only portable toilet was a " bucket and chuck it"
as it was known, it was a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat on it
and older caravans never had a "bathroom" just a large cupboard where you put the bucket...
so a toilet tent was all the rage.. kept the smell outside and the noise
toilet tents are great... well worth having... and are quite cheap to.... |

Well went and collected the tent we won off ebay...
and the seller showed us the toilet and straight away the kids thought it was great and wanted it
i wasnt too sure but he showed us how it all works and actually i thought it was a good idea...
so parted with a few quid and came away with the tent, chair, and the toilet...
Its a Thetford Porta Potti 165 and its not just any toilet is the Elegance model.... OOOOHHH
only one slight problem with it and thats the fact its beige.

Everything was made in strange colours at one time,
We used to have an orange awning, lol
The toilet was dark blue, and wash basin was yellow.
Enjoy ya camping mate,
If ya join the camping and caravan club for £40 a year, you can use all their little cs sites for £5.00 a night or less, |

We've been shopping round and pricing things up in regards to equipment as just camping with
a tent isnt the most fun so once we get...
fridge
cooker
sink
other bits an bobs
we will start getting out alot more and a fiver a night sounds a really good deal plus the uk campsite
website has plenty of info and reviews of places so theres no excuse for leaving the tent in the shed.
The time to start getting out just cant come quick enough.
P.s- The tent we got ive had up today and all thats missing is...
1 toggle for the window
1 guy line
1 toggle for bedroom has ripped but is present
And the little tears have been fixed with black tape so bought some clear repair tape to tidy it up a bit.
Not bad at all for the price.

we used to have one of those, it lived in the bottom of the wardrobe in our old camper van.
If you're after taking fridge, cooker and sink you might have been better off with a caravan
Although we caravan as a whole family, me and my boy quite often go camping on our own, just us, a tent, sleeping bags, lamp, folding stove and billy can set. |

A caravan would be nice but just dont have the money to get my towing license, caravan, insurance or storage for it right now or anytime soon besides were happy in a tent theres just something about it that we like.
Were only talking Small Fridge, Portable Cooker and Sink that can fit in a box trailer.
But if you ask Lou she would say she wants an R.V and a big one too. |
