|

Hi everyone , im new here so go easy on me .
i recently bought a 2004 l200 warrior 2.5 diesel. when i got it home i relised the hose pipe going from the wastegate was disconnected. but the pickup drove fine, so i at least i thought it was. but when i reconnected the hose to the vacuum line i noticed a greater improvement in power. then a few miles down the road it began to lose power, increased black smoke under pressure and the engine kept jumping or stuttering.
when i removed the vacuum hose again then there is no problems apart from lacking power.
can somebody please help |

Sounds like it was disconnected because the EGR valve gets stuck open. Take off the EGR,clean it and put it back on,and re connect the pipe,if it works it works,if it doesn't,take it off and close it,and either buy a blanking plate on the bay,or just put it on,and cap the vac pipe |

i have noticed when i the hose is connect to the vac then the wastegate pulls in fully. is this normal? and when i run the engine and then turn it off the egr releases air a few seconds after the engine has stalled . i also cleaned out the pipe going to the egr but i didnt remove the egr itself, i will remove and clean this 2moro. cheers for reply. |

I don't think it is a waste gate the hose is connected to. |

hose is connected to an actuator which has i a rod which i assume is connected to the wastegate , |

That actuator is connected to the vanes in the turbo that controls the boost.
There is no waste gate on our trucks.
It has a Variable geometry turbo.
Power loss is common when those vanes start to act up and a adjustment is necessary. |

well i have just spent the last couple of hour on the pickup. i have blocked the egr like you told me but there was no difference. but now i have found a new problem. i was checking and the vacuum pipes to see if they were all tight and secure until i came across the pipe connected to the actuator which controls the throttle (butterfly valve), i seen it was intentionally blocked til a bit of metal in the pipe.
i removed the blockage and connected back up to actuator. straight away this shut the butterfly valve which restricted air . why is it closing the valve????? and also is it normal for the geometry turbo to be at max boost constantly? i don't think so.
has any one come across this before? |

On idle it should rest on the upper bolt and when turned off it should rest at the lower bolt.
Here, print this out and read it a couple of times

thanks Danne. A lot of fine tuning to be done , i check the threads and it matches the recommended spec.
i still don't understand why the throttle valve is closing all the time and restricts the air intake. With this valve closed it will not rev, has no power and it produces black smoke. |
