|
|
hi all....
3003 shogun sport 2.5 4d56 td.
have purchased an egr blanking kit from EB, very straightforward to fit, but i have a couple of questions about fly by wire systems.
i was hoping to take the egr away completely, but the supplier has said the valve has to stay in place after blocking to avoid any
problems with the electrical connections.is this the case or can it be got shot of completely?
also could a stuck valve cause a management light to come on? cleaned the valve last week and now have the orange light of doom
up on the dash !
ps the blanking kit is very good quality,6mm plate all nuts bolts and washers, vacuum plug, colour print out of fitting instructions,2 free air fresheners (!)
and the guy will even email you a pdf copy of the engine workshop manual for your particular engine ! (all for less than £11)
i can post a link with details if forum rules allow this .can someone advise please ?
any help with the valve question would be appreciated.
regards....Ian |

Hello
Did you get this sorted? Im considering blanking mine in the same engine, 4d56.
Just wondering how you're getting on with it? |

Some have the sensor on top of egr.
its correct, can not be removed as has to move.
The ecu looks for signal from its sensor, its like a potentiometer.
some times, I think personally when the truck has had its ecu reflashed or maybe the mapping to reduce its fuel for overboosting turbo.
it brings on engine light with egr blanked off.
Again I dont know that for sure as in the past ive blocked of plenty of l200s with no bother but have seen some with blocked off egr and light on.
just drill a 6mm hole through it (only if your light is on after)
If your egr is stuck with a sensor on top then you might aswell just buy a new unit and not block. |

Thanks. I'll look for a sensor before I go any further.
Cheers

Why dont you put a piece of wire across your plug to see what the fault code is.
did you put vacvum pipe back on egr.
mjght be over boosting turbo or something else, hopefully not the pump (52 fault code) |

Oak that not for you.
in your case just cut a bit of steel or buy kit.
fit it and wait, some vehicles like new rangers take upto 100 miles.
thats why people dont think its the egr.
they think something else is wrong.
if light comes on then you know what to do. |
