Glow plug fuse is next to the positive battery terminal.

The one circled in the photo is 80A
The rest of the fuses can be found Here
Thinking about your melted fuse - it must have had a lot of current running through it to melt a 30A fuse so the original 10A fuse must have kept blowing - and the previous owner just put a bigger one in without looking for the fault. There must be a short circuit to the car body somewhere along it's length.
My last Shogun died when it blew all the main fuses - I never found the fault, even after taking out the dashboard. It was a 1997 model so had more complicated electronics than my Mk2 I have now |

If it has the same shape, connections and amps then I should be OK - but I wouldn't know if any other cars will have them. I wouldn't have thought that Mitsy would use fuses that were specially made for them, more likely to use ready made ones. Maybe other Mitsubishi cars have the same fuses. |

I'm keep the Paj! I'm gonna fix it all up myself now, as the two Mechanics I've had look don't have no interest in fixing it , I've cleaned all the relays couldn't find a new glow plug relay fuse but ordered one have a new voltmeter on order too and a battery and alternantor tester, also I crimping set and wire to put on the glow rail button to get rid of this other bodge previous owner done buy putting a new glow plug relay fuse near the fuse box foot well, stripping out all the carpets to see all wiring along the car and all the earth points, have a very small punch set to try tap out my melted fuse and alson trying to source a new fuse box as hopefully that will wire straight in, move all the *beep* out of the garage tomorrow to start properly working on it, I'm adiment I'm going to find all the problems... Oh and I have 1 new used/new from scrapyard and placed in the front battery tray and conected up cable ties tieing the other battery leads out the way and it seems to be holding charge, can't tell 100% if it works till my bits come but it's not dying and more electrical stuff is working with just one battery now... Alson got myself a torque wrench on order, if anyone would like to see pics I will post some on request, Thanks for the help dude you gave me some excellent pointers I will keep everyone updated....
Thanks!!

These cars are getting on a bit - mine is 19 years old this year - so they do sometimes need a fair bit of work, but once they are done then they are really nice to drive - much more special than Discos etc.
It sounds like you are all fired up into getting it done and I'm sure you will - it's all about working logically and not giving up.
I rebuilt my front suspension the other week and it was an absolute pig to do - it took me a week but now it's done I feel really proud that I managed it.
Trouble with mechanics is that many are just good at changing bits that are broken for new ones and they really don't want to do anything that is a bit out of the ordinary. There are some mobile mechanics on here who have very good reputations and they are the only ones I would trust - your local garage mechanic won't be a specialist in these trucks. I had a total electrical failure on my last Shogun and my local garage spent a week on it and I still had to take it away on a trailer - and they charged me £400 for the time they spent not fixing it.
Once you have sorted it yourself then you will know how it works if you have any problems in the future.
Remember to post pics of what you do - they will help someone else with the same problem.
Good luck with it. |

So I've cleaned and sorted both heater relays and decided that my pre heater relay is knackered as I couldn't get my new heater switchs inline fuse relay to stop blowing fuses all the time so I suspected my electrical and crimping work at start checked and all OK.. So proceeded to decide to try a new method and suspected my pre heater relay was broke or not grounded properly...???... As kept blowing inline relay fuses (approx 12 -_-) so decided enough with crimping ill twist and tape I cut off my piggy bank clip into the relay and crimped on an eyelet removed a bolt from glow plug rail and wired it directely to effectively the glow plugs bypassing all heater relays and glow plug ecu! placed in a 20 amp fuse back in the relay turned ignition to on and no pop and spark :0!! a new heater relay is going to be on order soon then if not working followed by a new ecu. Has this worked ? I can't say fully until the morning to see if she starts after a quick pre heat..
Could this be the reason my 4wd OD fuse melted inside... Maybe were the heater relays are grounded (if are)is knackered so whatever else is grounded there is struggling....
Can anyone answer why my rear lights for my 4WD come on when I have a jump lead from positive to glow plug rail? Like it's all working.... Surely the 4WD overdrive fuse is for the lights on the dash ? Or is that because it's creating a bypass so effectively ignoring the fuse? Or maybe blowing it ? The mechanic did that whole glow plug jump thing first before I even checked the fuse to see it had melted so maybe it blew then.... -_- an update will follow tomorrow if interested along with a few pics as I can't upload ATM....
I'm determined to sort this out....
I hope this can help (if it works) others peoples problems....
I don't no if I've been specific enough but any questions just ask away...
Thanks |

The way I work is to concentrate on one thing at a time - if it was me I would sort out the glow plug problem first. Ignore the 4WD lights until the glow plugs are sorted - you might find that the lights get sorted at the same time. |
