Hi all just joined I really need some help please
I have a 1995 pajero 2800 turbo diesel and can't seem to figurine out what's wrong with it
Right here's the problem
It changes through all gears including overdrive perfect but the converter lockup happens when it wants to it see to work when I'm going fast around 70mph with my foot down but as soon as I leave off the throttle it slips back to overdrive gear ie 4th
Sometimes the at kith flashes when I'm coming down a hill
Also there's no kickdown working
I have adjusted cable then put it back to where it was ,no difference
Adjusted tps the same no difference
Gearbox fluid is red and clean and full
Also the rev counter seems to work only when it wants too could this be linked in any way
It's really getting me down now as I don't know what it could be and being out of work and skint I'm trying to find out myself
It's only had one owner and been garaged all it's life
Please anyone help |

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear that you're having gearbox issues.
If you haven't done so already, it might be worth having a read of this thread: Autobox diagnose. I can see that the rev counter is mentioned as an input to the torque converter lock-up function, which might be a clue to the problem.
Also watch the postings from bravehrt17, who is in the process of solving a kickdown issue.
Hope this helps. |

Welcome. This is the Thread Simon refers to..
Indeed, what you describe seems little like my situation...and i still try to figure out what is normal and what is not..
One thing is for sure, that i didnt have kickdown responce..and now i have.
But the revs still playing... |

Yes thanks for your replays
Also I forgot to mention that my at mode switch does light up on dashboard and works on hold mode ie pulls away in second gear but don't work on power mode that's just the same as on middle setting mmm |

Welcome to the club
You'll probably find there are more folks on here with rev counters not working than those that do People say its a dry joint on the circuit board but lots just lie with it.
As for the AT switch, you say hold lights up but pwr doesn't or it does and nothing happens? If pwr isn't lighting up either whip the switch out and give it a good clean with some switch cleaner, afterall it's located in a position where lots of carp can get in to it, or might be a blown bulb. Always look for the cheapest options first |
