Hi Everyone!

I am a total newbie- so please do accept my apologies if this is a basic question/ has been answered already elswhere...

I have a 2004 3.2 DI-D- I really do not want to sell it for a Prius etc..

I was wondering if anyone has experience of running the 3.2 DI-D on wvo/svo/biodiesel (in that order- cost being the major factor for me- without ruining my beloved truck!!).

Will it work- without ruining her??

There seems to be loads of info for the 2.8 engine, but not much for the 3.2.

Thanks in advance!

Bobsky

The diesel pumps on the 3.2 are a very different beast to the earlier trucks, a few have had very expensive pump issues largely down to water ingress into the fuel rusting some pump internals. The price of a new pump is ££££ and enough to effectively write off some mk3 trucks! So for that reason I will only put good brand diesel (I tend to use shell) in mine and I would not consider anything else. I personally think for the size of the vehicle and the performance that the fuel economy is not bad. Maybe that's just me! Anyway have a read up on here and you can make your own mind up, but that's my take on it regards Tom

I have run my 2004 3.2DID on veg from the super-market on and off, mixed at about 50/50 with diesel, without any problems.... It starts and runs better on veg than my 2.8TD did. I`m not saying it`s safe to do this, but I had no problems.

Hi Unclepoo

Thanks so much for your kind information.

Can I ask,

a) Do you run it 50/50 all year round?
b) How many miles have you done like this?
c) have you needed to change fuel filter or fuel pump?
d) Have you needed to change any of your "rubber bits" or any other mods??

Thank you again.

The veg mix was just as and when i called into the super market selling 10L @£9.99 , but it was at all times of year.
The fuel filter was changed at service times, thats all.
No other modifications were needed...no rubber pipes or anything, I didn`t mix outside the tank, just poured it into a half tank of derv.  and it ran fine, started better, and i dont have starting problems. I would say that MPG is slightly worse, but hard to say with any degree of accuracy.
But like I say...DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK...OK
