It looks like the correct one to me.

Next time you see a Pajero in a scrap yard you ought to get all those big fuses out of it - I've got a full set of spares and they only cost a few quid.

Also - had a thought about the wire from the battery to your glowplug switch. You ought to have the fuse close to the battery terminal because the photo you showed of the wire on the battery terminal is unfused all the way to the fuse you have.

If you get a short on it between the battery and your fuse then you will melt the wire!

I have an active subwoofer and that has to be wired direct to the battery so I put the fuse as close to the battery terminal as possible so the whole wire is protected like in the photo below:

It's my daily car.

Thing is that it was starting fine.

I only checked it after telling you that my ammeter showed minus 10A when the glowplugs were on - I noticed that the ammeter wasn't showing a current drain from the glowplugs at all. So I decided to check if I had 12V at the glowplug rail and the wire was just dangling loose!

Typical Pajero problem - but you get good at mending them after a while, no different to other old cars though.

That's it mate, even after having mine for a lil while with a bit of help you can start to work things out and trace them, and seem quite simple not the major technology advice car my Mechanic was making it out to be lol mine is 22 years old for god sake.. And just a mixture of wiring an relays which is a hell of a lot easier Very Happy

So happy about the help I've received I have ordered a new alt fuse and one other fuse and have some very long small needle nose pliers on order to attempt the removel of my melted fuse. And a nice alternantor checker saves me getting to it with the voltmeter. And that's here Friday so I can give you an update on that as soon as possible.

I hope you get it sorted quick snap as your trucks a beaut!!!

Hopefully mine can be on par with it one day Wink

Does the club or people on this forum go out for green lane days or have meetups or anything ?

Thanks

The early Mk2s are the last ones that don't have a lot of computers in them so they are easier to work on. All modern cars have too many sensors and computers and are difficult to mend.

Mine has only had two owners from new and only 80,000 miles so it is in quite good condition - yours looks like it is a solid truck and will be a good one when you have got it finished.

My glow plugs are fixed now the wire is back on the glow plug rail - although it was still starting as normal because of the warm weather - would have been different in the winter though.

Important on these engines to change the oil and filter regularly - I do mine every 5000 km.

Also - check the Auto box fluid - I change mine every year.

Also flush the cooling system regularly - it helps stop overheating and a cracked head.

I am not an expert on these trucks but was brought up with my dad's repairs garage so was always mending cars.

What I know about Pajeros is what I've picked up from the very knowledgeable people on this site - there are some real experts on here who have forgotten more than I will ever know.

There is a Mitsy specialist garage a mile away from me - he knows a lot but I don't trust him after he changed my Pitman arm three times in three years because the truck failed it's MOT on it every year. After that I do my own repairs - anything too complex and I will use one of the mobile mechanics on this site.

I'll have a look at your other post later today.
