Thinking about insurance I cant possibly see how it would be a modification unless as braided and maybe tougher so safer then surely insurance goes down.
you and I both know it never works that way lmao.
anything to increase but no decrease!
This will make you laugh.
a friend put a 110bhp tdi in a audi quatro.
took out a over 200hp engine gearbox etc.
had a scrap car with diesel engine.
Changed insurance to suit, got a letter saying this not safe and needs a inspection and got some many days for report or insurance cancelled.
Took this car for a inspection, cost him alot im sure he said £250
Anyway to people who inspected said sorry I have to inform insurance company vehicle is not safe so as it stands your not insured or safe to drive it until modifications are done.
he said oh ok what does it need.
guys said its the brakes.
the brakes were huge as original to the car.
asked them whats wrong are they not performing or discs corrded on inside?
Guy said no they to over spec.
the sizes are to large.
wtf sort of carp is that.
He ended up going around alot of scrap yards measuring brakes and hubs etc.
he put a letter in to someone  higher and they wrote back the brakes on any vehicle are very important and must be suitable for the vehicles weight power etc.
he thought oh finally maybe I can get somewhere here.
rang them up and they insist its dangerous.
Talk about some people, there just like robots,  you just know they are told if brakes are not this size just say no lol.
it should be if brakes are smaller than a certain size not bigger.
you think how many evos that have porsche brakes fitted, I have to fit bigger wheels.
they want ceramic brakes etc.
so stupid!

Insurance is a nightmare these days.

I wonder if all these boy racers who upgrade their Fiestas etc with four-pot Brembos ever tell their insurance company. Their brakes would be like that Audi, too good for the car.

I've been trying to find that post about braided hoses being a mod - I've told my insurance about my wheels (steel with A/Ts on), the bullbar, the winch and the fact that I've taken out the sixth and seventh seats. They phoned me back and then asked if I had taken out the seatbelts for those seats as well because that would be an extra mod! Oh, and my spotlights are classed as a mod apparently.

I need to tell them about the tow bar as well - it was fitted when I got the car but there is a post on here from a bloke who had problems when someone ran into the back of him and the insurance said it was a mod!

It is going to get to the point that changing anything - even using non-Mitsy brake pads will be classed as a mod!

I tried Milners web site and everything is working - except for the suspension section on all the models.

I was going to change to braided hoses just because they are much better - had them on my bikes in the past before insurance started asking about mods! I'm rebuilding (slowly) all the suspension on my Paj and then was going to renew all the brakes and though I'd put braided hoses on while I was doing the rest of it - they do seem a bit expensive though.

Yep - their web site is working today.

Rear shock

Works out at £150 ish which isn't bad I think.

I've heard from a few people that they are genuine Mitsy.

Still a lot of money though - but better than Dealer, can't believe they would want over £1000 for a full set - that's more than most Mk2s are worth!

Good luck with the bottom bolt!!!!

I think my glowplug relay packed in yesterday.

I've got an ammeter installed in mine and it always showed minus 10A when the glowplug dash light was on - now it's not showing a discharge when the heater light is on.

Car starts OK though.

If i'd not put the bloody ammeter on then I wouldn't know and wouldn't be worried!

Bloody wire to the glowplug rail corroded off!

Had to take off intercooler to get crimpers in to it - then spent an hour looking for one of the intercooler mounting bolts!! I must stop putting things on top of the battery - bloody bolt fell down the side under the glow plug fuse!!

My ammeter is showing the 10A discharge again when the glowplug light is on - so the ammeter is actually useful!!!!

That bottom bolt wont be no problem for my milwaukee hd impact gun.
its the most powerful 18v impact gun you can get!
My friend bought the ingeresol rand as I told him its the most powerful impact gun you can buy.
its 20v.
theres no diff between them.
it states it has 20nm more than me.
both an amazing impact gun.
I would of bought that Ingersoll rand gun but then only have 2 batteries.
Just made more sense for milwaukee to me as loads of batteries with all the other tools I have.
I use to use facom until my battery bust on my drill.
couldnt get a battery as discontinued.
After that I slowly went to milwaukee as each tool died.

I've been thinking of getting an impact gun but a bit of a luxury - most of the bolts I have taken off have been easy to move with a normal ratchet - but I do tend to soak everything in PlusGas for weeks before I do the job.

Only thing that defeated me was a lower wishbone pivot bolt and it was rusted in the bush - ended up destroying the wishbone with an angle grinder but I had two replacement ones that I had galvanised and was going to fit them anyway. After saying that I have got the upper wishbones to change and then the trailing arm bushes and rear shocks so maybe I will invest in one. I decided to do all the bushes and balljoints under the car this summer and have been spraying plusgas on everything once  a month since last summer!

It would be a nice toy to add to the shedful of toys I already have!
