Hi guys,
I've got a bit of a quandry. I have tried to replace one of the water temp sender units which is situated on the right side of the cylinder head, underneath where the top rad hose goes onto, there are two senders there, one witha single spade connector sat on orange coloured wax, and a white twin recessed pin one with a white plastic surround.
I ordered replacements for both, but the white one came from Milners as a black plastic surround, and the plug doesnt fit it. on closer inspection, the old one has a half moon shape on one side where as the new one doesnt, i have spoken to Milners, and Mitsubishi and have got nowhere, so im wondering if anyone on here can help identify what sender it is, possibly a mitsu part number( if im really lucky ) or where I can find the correct replacement part.
I will now attempt to post pics of the old one and the new one so you can see what im talking about exactly.....
better still, if you take alook at the pics Peteinchad posted, pics 2 and 5 clearly show the white sender with the black plug with a green and black wire going to it. This is the sender I need to identify and find a correct replacement for, this has been causing me a real headache so any help is greatly appreciated as always
Regards

Does this help?
I think the one you are having problems with is the auto box temperature sensor. |

Hi Pete,
Yes its the white one, the one milners sent me is a slightly different shape sothe plug wont go on. Have had a nightmare trying to get a replacement as I couldnt find out what sensor it was...
So its a gearbox one, now just gotta find a new one of those, couldnt find it on the schematics that my local mitsu dealer emailed me, may have to have a chat with them again tomorrow...
Dont suppose you know what the mitsu part number is do you...?
Regards

I have just done a search on eBay and quite a few twin connection sensors come up.
Some have got photos and diagrams of the connections so maybe you can match one up.
None of them have a white body though.
Search is HERE |

Hi Pete,
I've been looking through these and cant find a white one that matches mine, the black ones all seem the same as the one that milners sent me.
I have noticed that a firm in Australia seems to sell new plugs that match the sensor that milners sent me, are you aware of any plug changes or upgrades between 1995 1996 on this model as im beginning to wonder if that is the case....?
Regards

Mines a late model 1995 and it is a white sensor.
I don't know of any changes but I've not really looked at that sensor before - Have you phoned Milners and asked about it?
I had to phone them over a radiator cap - there are two different ones. They said they would check and someone phoned me back the same day and sorted the correct one out for me. |

That one says it is an electric fan switch for Engine Code: 6G72 (DOHC 24V)
But then it says it fits the 2.8 and then gives those two part numbers which are Mitsy codes.
MITSUBISHI MB-439576
MITSUBISHI MB-568959
You could try the dealer with those codes and see what they are listed as.
Or - give Micks Garage a call - they are only in Coventry and I've heard that they are quite good. |

I phoned Mick's and they seem to think its the right one, same size
looks the same and the plug matches it.
Mitsu said only 2nd part number shows up on their system ans a temp switch
but the dont have one in stock to match it up, and the schematic
doesn't show it clearly enough to identfy it.
Andy from Milner found this on ebay and emailed it to me, he thinks
it may be the one im looking for.....confused.com

I would take Mick's Garage's word for it - they are quite knowledgeable. |
