Correct it wont as ecu expects it to be correct.
It needs the live data to help you.
Whats it voltage and are idle switches activated. |

Bit of a update.
Injector pump was sent back twice to the people that did the pump.
Eventually got so annoyed putting it on and taking it off.
I sent up the whole pajero and they told me its not the pump.
They still wanted money for doing the pump so the pajero has been left with them for the past good few months.
Still never collected it.
They told me the ecu is sending the pump the wrong signal.
They told me to try a s/hand ecu an if that doesn't work fit a manual pump.
Does anybody have a 1998 2.8 ecu going cheap?
Also does anybody no how i could get the rev counter working if i put manual pump on it? |

I recently bought an engine for mine, but it was the EDC engine, where mine has the mechanical pump, converting the bits over was simple enough, needed to do the obvious stuff like the pump and injectors, then there was the inlet manifold, the coolant pipe that does from the water pump/thermostat area, around the back of the engine to the heater matrix pipes. The mechanical pump one has a T piece in it,the EDC one doesn't. We also had to swap over the vac pipes on the top of the engine. I think there is a coolant pipe that goes across the front and down to the pump, and a boost pipe from the turbo
I still have the EDC pump too,it was recently refurbed apparently, but they couldn't get the thing to idle properly,You can try it if you want though |

Seeing as you want to sort it out, is it worth sending the ECU away to be looked at? |

Jimmyw i might actually try that pump. Because i was also told when these injector pumps go they will never work right again because there is an internal spring that goes that cannot be replaced.
Can you Pm me details about price and postage ! |

It would be worth stating what ECU number (Mitsi number like MC.....) you have now as there are a number of different ECU's about...

Bit of an update
Finally got 4x4 back
Bought ECU for it, doing the exact same thing. The crowd that rebuilt the injector pump said the pump is perfect. So I am going to buy a second hand injector pump same as my own. I don't believe the pump was rebuilt right if the 4x4 is still doing the same thing |

Ask the guy who built it, what did the pump have, the electrics pack or the mechanical side?
Surely this is the rotor speed sensor or wiring back from the pump to the ecu.
have you had the live data on a mut or carman to check if ecu got pump rpm signal. |

Ok got the 4x4 started and its doing the exact same thing.
The problem is is that it revs to the limit as soon as you start it???
Its NOT the injector pump, ECU, crank shaft sensor, boost sensor, tps sensor and its also not because its too full of oil.
Does anyone have any idea at all??? |

The speed sensor signal back to ecu is missing.
you need a oscilliscope on ecu.
have a poke around near the pump, theres a plug.
a pin corrodes |

This pump has a rotor speed sensor inside.
ecu sends full power down to pump as its waiting for speed to increase.
pump runs in near enough flat out mode.
you need to insure your ecu sees the pump speed.
im confident its not there |

Its a shame you never said this symptom at the start.
you need a good machine to read live data.
I know with my paj mut would not touch it.
I use carman on it.
A oscilloscope at ecu is what you need.
then put scope on back of pump.
I bet signal is at pump but not ecu. |
