Morning all ! Need a little help !
I got a 94 2.8 auto diesel . Starts first turn of the key every time . Little or no smoke and purrs like a kitten. Problem starts when traveling a a steady speed . Traveling at say km100 , she will go fine and then the revs jump by 200 rpm . Does this on and off for most of the journey and then will drive fine ?????  Anybody got some ideas ? Is it a gearbox or fuel problem ?

Sounds like over drive turning on and off.
theres a temp sensor on head that causes this.
if not od then check your atf level, ie whilst its running.

Over drive turning off will most prolly raise the RPM by a whole lot more than 200, first place to start is to check fuel lines at rear of vehicle see if they corroded and letting in air.

your right mark it`ll only change by 200 rpm if it drops out of lockup if , it drops out of overdrive it`ll increase by 1000 rpm approx .

That is intresting what you 2 say about overdrive.
I didnt think mine was that much rpm lost with od off.
to be honest I never touch it.
I know when I get to 65mph my revs drop a tad and I get a large surge of power that you dont need.
not often I drive much past 70.
I thought that was my over drive.
When towing I try to sit at 65 depending on size c of trailer.
I dont go no more than that as I know whats coming next.
I know normal 2.8 (non edc) seems alot lower ratios and over drive seems alot lower speed.
