Hi As said before I have A Pajero Imported from Japan
now as I am sure some of you are aware the laws regarding towing are almost no existent over there.

Any way my pajero has no Information on how much the cars unladen weight is along with no gross weight no Maximum weight etc

Any way as my Pajero is pretty much the same as if no better than the shogun shouldn't they be the same?

just want to know as I have a small caravan which has a gross weight of 755kgs which is only 5kgs over the licence restriction BUT
after speaking with the police, DVLA, DSA and a driving instructor it is perfectly legal if the gross vehicle weight plus the gross trailer weight
don't exceed 3500KGS.

but as I don't have the full details for the Pajero not sure what to do.

Always forget that

it Is a 94/95 Mark 2 2.8TD LWB

Also the tow ball has 50mm marked on the top of it, is this correct for the UK?

Hi thanks for the replies but not sue if it the info required

Really I need to know how much does the pajero weight on its own
and what is the vehicles gross weight

I did have it on my shogun and I was legal to tow the caravan with that however I cannot recall what the weights on that were
it think I had about 30 kgs to play with (basically I am towing under what is called combination law as I don't have the B+E but as I passed
my test in 2000 I can exceed 750kgs under certain terms)

I was in the same boat with the post-97 license (missed it by 8 months *beep*!)

I did my B+E test, cost £280 and a day of my time for some training then the test.

Now done for the rest of my driving career and I can tow up to 3500kg.

I was depending on the tow car borderline with what I was towing. Audi A4 estate was just OK, a few kg to spare like you say. My LWB Mk2 Shogun of the time was over the limit hence I did the test.
The other thing that worried me even with the A4 estate was if I got pulled in Europe they probably would not understand the complexity of the UK system on the B only license. I have towed to Germany and back a few times so decided it was better to do the proper trailer test once and for all.

Recommended by me.

If its not plated vosa wont like it.
I tow 3.5t with mine as its not plated you can play ignorance.
but for your own safety check out what a same size shogun pulls.
I always used a pajero to pull our hobby caravan as the law before 2010 was it had to be a 3.5t vehicle to pull it.
ie a huge transit.
a pajero or toyota emina will get you out of a muddle.
in my case the paj against a shogun, shogun takes 3.3t.
bare this in mind, I been towing the caravan since I owned it.
never been pulled up.
I think if it looks right they leave you alone.
a car and a horse box, he gonna get pulled.
or the best 1 is a car with a car trailer and a 4x4 on the back.
I see this often and think wtf!

My 1st response to VOSA is they can go F**K themselves.
they were happy to allow it on to UK road without any weight plates so 8 years on they have no say.

The thing is there are far too many variables to tell what the gross weight of the pajero is I like anyone else could get its unladen weight
simply put it on a weight bridge and keep the paperwork in the car very difficult to argue with.

according to the stuff on here her gross is 2650KGS so that leaves me with 850KGS to play with yet on my shogun it was less than 780KGS
to play with.

For what I use the caravan for it ain't worth doing the B+E and as I need to do my HGV class 2 for work might as well do that and then go class 1.

davembp that helps and not too far off what I recall the shogun being.
your information plus the information passed to me by the various driving agencies
Means 3500 mine the gross of the pajero at 2720 means I have 780 kgs I can legally tow on the pajero
mines the caravan gross weight of 755 means I have 25kgs play room.

On my Hilux I had 985kgs play room.
