hi folks,

I need to change the both the front of rear and rear of rear bushes of my 4x4. I am going to get the PU bushes but wanted to check which are the correct ones as one look adjustable offset caster (Type B - by the looks of it for tracking) and the other is just set in centre (Type A)

Please advise

Also, is it something I can do by the roadside? (I have an impact wrench) or shall I get it done by a garage. Do you have to get the tracking done?

Its a complete nightmare of a job. Get a garage to do it. May be cheaper to get replacement arm than pay someone else to fit PU bushes. They are *beep* anyway ( IMHO)

Thanks mate.. kinda had a feeling it would be a nightmare to DIY. Gonna get my local garage to do it..

Anyone got any idea what ones on the above two pics are the best? Or they both the same

As in the link you can get the bushes from millners around £90 inc p&p
They are the centre hole ones Wink

The Front of Rear bushes have been enhanced making it easier to fit. Only thing is taking the existing one out as its pressed in.

Can anyone advise if I need to watch anything to do with tracking? will I need to get the tracking regardless?

You will need a full geometry check and adjustment done. Tracking, castor and camber.

Be warned you could be opening a can of worms here.

To set the geometry at the rear there are 2 adjusters per side, one does toe (tracking, lateral arm) one does camber (bottom arm). Chances are as per 99% of Mk3 Shoguns these adjusters will be seized solid. Once you have changed the trailing arm bushes the chances are that the whole lot will need adjusting to get it right. As it's a garage doing it you will be paying a good few hours labour for them to cut out and replace all four adjusters and their associated bushes.
Are you sure the trailing arm bushes need to be done? They are big substantial things.

As Geodrome says Toms truck was done, the garage that tried to do the job before Tom bought it *beeb* up the rear seating for the bolts when they used a burner & Tom or mick ended up putting a whole new back end on.

Garage will charge through the roof. Only took me & a mate 1.5 days to do mine and that was only on axle stands and three ton jack.

Hardest part is to cut the bolts.

I swapped the entire rear subframe over. Whilst I was at it I rebushed all the arms. It was a lot of work but I built it with plenty of anti seize so should I ever need to adjust the rear suspension I can.
