Had fun an games with my car and the egr pipe with 2 lovely splits in it.
Looked up a replacement pipe at £60 decided i didn't want to spend that much.
Worked out the thread which is M24x1.5(FINE) pitch.
Discovered that a Merc Truck has a gearbox plug which is that thread and pitch, ordered one off ebay for £2.99 including P+P
Next bit was a homemade blanking plate out of 8mm thick steel which i cut to shape.
Since doing this my car how runs sooooooooooo much better, has a lot more kick to it, that and my milage on a tank has gone up by 50+ miles.
all good and now i wonder why we have EGR |

Great info Tony. My V6 has a split in the flexible pipe to the EGR valve, so I may well source one of these plugs. |

Tony,
I have a split in my EGR Pipe and was just wondering, Has this car passed emissions tests on MOT with the EGR Pipe Blanked off ?
Look forward to hearing the reply. |

No matter now!
Tig welded the pipe (the flexi pipe is very thin stainless by the way).
all good now |

Just blanked off the EGR valve my 3ltr 24v Shogun and off to sunny Cornwall with the caravan tomorrow so will be interesting to see what the difference is, it feels a lot more responsive already |
