I currently have 265x50 R20 rims & tyres.
Could I replace them with 255x60 R18 rims & tyres?
My guess would be yes, as long as I could by the correct wheel.
I have some hardly used winter tyres for which it might be cheaper for me to buy new wheels for winter rather than buying 265x50 R20 tyres.
Any thought welcome.
Regards,
Stephen |

Assuming you have a 2000> model Shogun the correct size in an 18" is 265/60/18, the 255 will fit fine on any of the OE 7.5x18 rims but will be 10mm too small on diameter. |

Cheers.
Most helpful.
Will the 10mm represent a problem?

This is a useful calculator tool:
http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator
It turns out that the rubber I currently have on my 20" rims are quite a bit out.
275/45/20 and smaller in diameter than the rubber I was looking to put on some 18" rims.
Go figure! |

265/50/20 is the correct size for 2000> Shogun/Pajero and used on Diamond/SG4 models. The 255s will be fine, just under 2% smaller than 265. |

Winter wheels & tyres are now on..
So what have I learned?
That the noise I was sure was a bearing on the way out proved to be tyre noise from my summer tyres.
I have since looked up reviews of the F-One tyres that were on and it seems a common problem.
I guess I'll need to invest in some new rubber before spring time.
