I know that an MOT is not required for Tractors, ex military vehicles and towing vehicles (as in recovery) but have been informed today that ALL commercial vehicles from before 1960 are MOT exempt - is this correct ?? |

I don't know about the old trucks, but we run 3 recovery trucks on the police scheme, (just recovery not transport) & all ours have to be MOT'd. |

All vehicles have to have a MOT, no exemtions on any, they must all be road worthy etc etc, tax exempt yes some are, but still when exempt from tax, you have to have a disc in the window, just no money to pay.
What ever they are, recovery, fire engines, ambulance, what ever, MOT |

Yes, must be MoT'd. The lorry I drive daily displays neither tax disc nor operator's licence (legally!) but still must have MoT. (The reg. number is'nt on the P.N.C. either!)

All police cars are exempt in my experience, looked at quite a few going throught the breakers and they all just have the service history (a pad of a4 lined paper with hundreds of services).
Saw a H reg renault traffic van, absolutely battered on the outside but used for observation inside and a rover v8 under the bonnet. No mot.
My mates got a recovery truck and that doesn't need a mot according to preston DVLA when they give him the tax disc and certificate 2 months ago.

Our 1942 Morris commercial (Army truck) came with an MOT but we were told at licensing office that it didn't require one.
Also, I went to view an Enfield Electric car the other day and it had a tax disc showing FOC but no MOT. |
