I noticed today that the oil level on my Mark 1 was a bit low after checking it when it was completely cold. When I topped it up, I have managed to over fill it by around 1cm over the high mark on the dipstick. Is this enough to be a problem, or should I leave it?

Thanks for any replies.

In my experience, don't bother about it. By the way, 1 cm on the dip stick is around 500 ml, I only add this amount when the oil is around mid way between high and low marks.

You've topped up because oil is used. This level will only drop as there is no make up route. Steep climbs and drops, side swings and such, move that sump oil into many localised areas without adverse effect on these old tech engines.

I just saw this post after spending about an hour earlier this evening getting enough out with a fluid transfer gun to get the level back down to where it should be.

I used a piece of fine plastic tubing down the dipstick tube.

I did this at my last change, Doh!
Just carefully pulled the sump plug and drained a bit, then topped up to the correct Mark. Long rubber gloves are a bonus for doing it.
