1998 Shogun LWB

My headlight washers have stopped working. Before I go pulling pipes apart and trying to get at all the bits that are hidden behind panels; are there any common failures?

The tank is full and no leaks, the pump appears to work in that I can hear it when I press the button. Nothing from either set of jets.

I wonder if there are any non-return valves in the pipework or jets which may have rusted inside?

Mine has a non-return valve in the pipework where it tees off on the driver's side below the jet. I seem to remember that you have to take the sump guard off to get at it.

Thanks for the reply. I have a feeling that this isn't going to be a simple fix, or rather getting to the pipework isn't going to be easy.

I'm wondering if it might be easier to get out and wipe the headlights Laughing

It's not too bad to get at with the bash plates off.

I spent ages mending mine - new pump etc - and they are rubbish at cleaning the lights as they give a little squirt of water that shifts nothing.

If I do get them working again I'm thinking about either modifying the relay to give a longer squirt or replacing it so that the squirt is as long as the button is held for.

I thought of doing something like that - but just too much trouble as mine don't get that dirty anyway.
