I have had two DiD autos, now close to 300 000 Kilometers between them so far GOOD. The first car was better than the second the shift was perfect still at 180000 kilometers, I do change the ATF every 20000 and filter every 40000 Kilometers. Both cars do lots of rough tough driving and towing boats and trailers. |

Auto from now on for us...!!!
Some say it's a lazy mans car. But I say these days in forever crowded roads, constantly stop - starting, an auto is the way to go. No more aching left leg / knee.
People say they're better off road too.... |

I have preferred auto over manual, more relaxed drive........more so in traffic and towing. Well that was until i got a manual(car) and i have changed my mind..........
Auto is a must i am *beep* off changing gear every few seconds more so in the traffic due to average speed camers |

If the manual has a good clutch and DMF they are fine. Biggest problem is when they have a DMF fail. Parts alone are over a grand. |

Manuals have better fuel economy (significantly) but DMF's fail and very prone to jumping out of first when high mileage! |

I always hated autos until I drove the Shogun, there are points to consider, the engine was designed solely for an auto box and the manual was added for certain markets.
Disagree with the differing MPG as mine gets as much if not more than any manual I have drove but it depends on how you drive it as they learn your driving style; you have the option of using the manual override if you like so you have two boxes in one. |

Everyone says autos use more fuel than a manual, but I've always found fuel better on autos, but I suppose if you were the perfect driver changing gear at the optimum moment every time then they probably are, but I ain't no perfect driver so autos all the way for me if there's a choice. |

I was thinking about using my manual l200 that I have been fixing up for work instead of the shogun. I knew as soon as I got it out of the yard that it would be going up for sale. |

With auto you get creep, this is actually beneficial off road, and if you need manual you push the lever to the left and use the tiptronic function by tapping the stick backwards or forwards to go up and down the gearbox. Put it in 1 or 2 and it remains in that gear and the torque convertor locks for steep ascents and descents. |
