|
|
Just a quick one, for cleaning the engine bay, without using high pressure water.
(sorry if anyone wrote it, i didnt find anywhere)
As known, High pressure water, can do some damages, suck in the connectors and electrics, in air filter or intercooler...
I am using a small GARDEN SPAYER (one of those you use to spray insectisides on plants)
Its small, you can aim deep points down the engine area, not much pressure to do any damage, but still able to remove all dust, mud etc..
After drying, i use some silicon spray to spray the hoses and plastic parts.
Also some WD40 for metal connections, bolts, nuts springs and other moving objects..
Engine looks shiny, like new!
(In the army, we used to spray with a mixture of diesel and oil, not only in the engine, buy also the outside body of the trucks...! It was something like a quick polish, although the smell of petroil was noticable! But i would not like this on my civilian car ) |

Sorry to sound stupid, but once you've sprayed 5-56 everywhere I'd it merely a case of rubbing it in with a clean cloth or brush, and that's it? |

As Pete says, it looks like it's a WD-40 equivalent. Here's a link: 5-56 |

5-56 dont get sticky, wd-40 does in my experience.
I just spray an area and clean it right after with a t-shirt or something else I have in hand
Then I spray and clean next area and so on.
Done this a few years now and don't have any down side to it yet.
This pic is and hour old

Ooh i'm gonna have to get me some of this.
My engine bay is in a sorry state at the moment - the previous owners weren't big on clean and shiny!
Just need to grow longer legs so I can reach in easily |
