hi all, my pajero is leaking a lot of oil on the road at home and when checking underneath car it is caked in oil everywhere  Shocked .... I am struggling with this guys  Confused  any help is much appreciated. thanks

There are toe likely sources, the half moon gasket at the rear of the rocker cover, and the balance shaft cover plates directly behind and well hidden by the injector pump.

Check if the oil is flowing from the rear top end of the engine. It's best to wash the whole engine with engine cleaner, then water spray. Go for a short drive and you'll soon see where it's from.

The cover plate is secured by 2 bolts, M12 spanner I think. Nip these up, but don't over tighten. 4-5 Nm is not much.

thanks alot for your reply trekker, aint been on here for while. Found problem which turned out to be oil filter loose  Evil or Very Mad , when i was checking around that area before there was no oil round filter so didnt think to check if it was loose then other day leak was getting bad with running oil under car when moving it checked under bonnet again and presto! oil round filter couldnt believe it when i felt it, it tightened by a full turn, i then nipped up with tool, all good  Very Happy
