Nothing technical, just wanted to say how pleased I am with the guys at Chris Cars in Hull, I used this forum to diagnose and find a cheap enough garage to do the work for me, started off with the typical white smoke and cut out after a few yards down the road but all ok once warm. Took it to them because they were the cheapest at £180. I drove from Derby, took a couple of hours - good roads, duel carriageway or motorway all the way. They got straight on with the job because they knew I had come a good distance, took them 4 hours in total - just enough time for me to wonder round the deep aquarium and get some lunch inside me! I tried to explain problem to a local "diesel specialist" who has been in operation for over 40 years, they didn't have a clue and tried to fob me off and say it needed a new fuel pump, yeah right! Anyway, I can assure you that I'm not affiliated with Chris Cars in any way - Cracking set of lads, good price and a genuine care for their customers 10/10  And thanks to the members of this forum for pointing me in the right direction! James. |

Derby to Hull is significantly less time and distance than from Mark's house to Derby. 
Chris Cars do consistently get good reviews for 2.8 pump seals. If you're in the north eastern quarter of England they're worth considering. |

I was thinking along the lines of mark tallying this in with another pump seal etc.
he seems to get about. |
