a guy in the army i knew had a gold coloured one he was trying to restore, but the problem with the army is getting the time,he got all the body work  chassis and stuff done looked mint, but then he let it go as he still had all the mechanics and interior to do......it took 5 years for him to do the body and chasssis......which was a shame as it was a brilliant looking car,im guessing it,s  been made into a few baked bean tins since then.......

Its unfortunately not mine Sad ,work friend who has now took voluntary redundancy..........

Off top of head,he bought a spare engine, know he did a few bits around the engine etc etc. Had it fully under sealed(around 4-500 £ iirc)  ,not the 1/2 day under job, good few days iirc, maybe even a week it was gone for.

Everything is oe,including the stereo tape player to keep as it should. I am sure he paid around £8k for it around 4 or 5 yrs back............could be longer.

So he had a very good starting point,as was in great condition to start with Cool

It only comes out(i used to wind him up)when no rain and right ambient temp Laughing Not used during winter and stored under a car cover. I know he was going to build a car port type cover to keep it in..............might be doing that now since he finished last month.............lucky chap Very Happy

Get some pics up,love the capri,i had the 2.0s in black as my 2nd car at 18. I just wanted a "big engine" and a 2.0 was at the time Laughing It looked so small in the huge bay, could almost stand in the side, changing the starter motor was a dream!!

Loved it,only a 4 speed, had it maybe for 12months before i traded it against a mint xr2 in red(E reg). Going back to around 1993 ish.......

Had a newer interior like the 2.8 with all the arm rests, one of the most comfortable cars i have driven, still today(shogun/pajero up there too). Furthest i took mine was Minehead on a  2 week camping holiday...................good old days, nice 80 all the way. Thought it was so quick at the time as my 1st car was a 1.3gl escort after passing test. Then when i got the xr2............wow it was like it was taking off Laughing

Only other issue i had was the reverse light, sensor on the gear box........

Loved it mainly (other than comfort)for the feel sat behind the long bonnet, silver stripe and S looked great on the black car, nice rims and the dash dials..............great car imo. Of course the RWD too,but was not easy to get the rear "wheel" spinning, only wet would help out there for the approx 80 pony power............

Wish i had pics, nothing comparable to the brooklands, but nice in the day. In fact i nearly swapped my 1st escort 1.3 for a 3.0 v6 S reg capri..........that sounded awesome(dont forget i was 18 at time and used to a 1.3gl). But decided against at the last minute to only get a 2.0s a few months later Rolling Eyes  I do remember paying around £930 or £960 3rd party only on my insurance Shocked

It`s definately a trip down memory lane, your first car was an escort gl well mine wasn`t as posh as was
a lowly 1.1 popular plus, but being a two door would probably be worth about 10 grand now lol.
Second car I ever owned was a Capri and through the years have always had one, currently me and
my brother have four 2 brookies one is half way though a resto and the other not to far behind.
The other two are 2.8`s one more or less a donor car and the other is an early four speed and a couple
of shed`s of spares Rolling Eyes
