Fit a fph flat plate heater and you will be able to go up to 95% oil 5% petrol

Well i am about to take the plunge and try running my 2.5 mk1 1988 on vegetable oil/diesel mix.  I bought 20 litres of white chef cooking oil from the cash and carry for €20 so a 30% saving potentially. Does anyone know that brand of oil and if its suitable? What ratio should i start off with. I do have a spare fuel filter to put in after a week or two.  Any advice would be very welcome and a few prayers even!!

prayers given Wink just read what's above usually its best to start on 20/80 oil/diesel mix and goes up...even up to 95/5 but you should remember about viscosity difference between diesel and SVO oil and evade low temp usage  if you don't have extra heating on fuel lines and tank or your veg oil will behave like your pan oil/lost all viscosity/ after being chilled out by temp.

Yes Thanks for that.  I will start small and build it up.  As we are coming into warmer weather I am hoping temperature wont be such an issue.  AJ

The link for that site has been taken down due to Eco concerns!
