That is probably a better place than where I have mine.
Some people have fitted them into the number plate light. |

Yep - the spare wheel does get in the way.
Mine isn't too bad but there is still a blind spot behind the wheel. |

Mine is fitted in the number plate light because I was concerned about how much of the image would be blocked by the spare wheel. Pete, do you have any pictures of the view you get with the camera up there? |

Yep, thanks for the pic. I think I prefer my location based on what you've posted. I know they're different cars, but I think the back door and wheel location are close enough that the mk3 would give a similar view.
One think I'd have liked to try is mounting it on the underside of the spoiler trailing edge. That might clear the wheel a bit more, but I couldn't come up with a nice way to route the cable. |

well I was considered that location as mk3 spoiler is hold by 3 screws 2 on sides and 1 in centre from inside of doors but its just support screw (very similar to interior trim screws in size) so hole is quite small to small to accept AV cable with plug on it big enough to squeeze power cable that's why I drop that idea off course if somebody is fine with resizing/drilling out bigger hole then it will be fine but I prefer not to do any cheese making on body of mine pride and glory and on top of that is quite possible so all water from back will be thrown on camera from bottom which is quite interesting as I be suspecting water from roof or side of vehicle but all mud debris etc from back wheels are thrown over the sides towards centre of back door widow so I be looking for machinery transmission belts to mode that with it |

I considered the centre bolt hole, but wasn't sure if I'd be creating a route for water into the door. Hole size isn't an issue really - just cut the connectors and resolder once they're routed through. |
