Simon I cant complain lol.
I never even knew it was like this until other day.

All I can say is we was all wet.
we have 5 horses.
It peed it down and all of us were soaked through.
window started to mist up around the edges at top.
that made me remember about you.
So I turnned temp up.
after about 3c up or down if I remember correctly it does what you said.
Air comes from outside.
I know since I owned paj it never had problem with misting up window.
I had 1 of the 1st peugeot 406 hdi.
it was 1999.
they had a problem with misting up bad.
ac stayed on 247.
we bought car 2 years old.
kept taking it back but never got it solved.
found someone else, they had same problem.
So we know about misting up lol.
oh and had a 306 d turbo.
heater matrix popped.
mist everywhere.
but pajero, infact I keep quiet.
got no wood to touch!

Fitted my new compressor and dessicant canister today:





The compressor went in very easily, although the connector wasn't identical so I put the old one on the new compressor. Just one bullet connector needed for the swap.

Hopefully I will be able to get it regassed tomorrow. It will be very good to have it working again - particularly in the current heatwave.

Hi Jimmy. It's absolutely identical to the one I took off, apart from the electrical connector. If you're comparing it to the Pajero compressor, it's a different unit for some strange reason.

BTW I did get hit for VAT on the import, to the tune of £30. So the total landed cost for the new compressor was £185. The desiccant cannister was £23 (a Nissens unit - again a perfect fit). So all in it's £208, plus the cost of the re-gas. So I think I've done quite well.  Smile

Simon.
I did 3 cars yesterday.
decided to do my paj.
I didnt think mine was that great.
I still had 800grams of gas in mine.
had to take it up to 1100 just to get vent temp down.
I know the year before it left workshop freezing.
yesterday I couldnt get vents lower than 8c
I expected 2c.

I dont suppose you see how much your vent temp was did you.

I know when I 1st had my paj in It was 10.5c
Ac was there but fans on auto just stay to high for my liking.
last year it ended up with bang on 1050 grams to get it perfect.
im sure vents was about 2c but now im left wondering was that our car!

Great result for your perceverance Simon,I personally would,nt be without aircon now. I distinctly remember back in the seventies early eighties I was keen on American cars, still am to some degree?. Lot of stuff I looked at especially Trans-ams I would ask if the air-con was working 9 times out of 10 they would say " I disconnected it to save fuel" what a laugh, yeh! course you did it would make a hell of a difference to the fuel consumption on a 6.6 V8.

Of course the modern day twist on the same theme is " Air-con needs a re gas" yes , of course it does Rolling Eyes if it just needs a re-gas why don,t they have it done and get a better price !...of course we all know why, the systems are usually " cattle trucked Wink "

Thanks Ken, much appreciated. It went in really easily, with no seized bolts or other surprises. I was very lucky to get the right compressor with relatively little difficulty.  The cabin temperature is very much colder now than it was before, too.

I too wouldn't be without air-con. The first car I had it on was a 24v 3.0 Vauxhall Senator. The only problem was that on delivery the condensate drain was going straight into the cabin, so very soon after I got it much of interior had to be stripped out in order to replace the carpets.  Once sorted, it was a great car. Like a Mercedes for less money. Less rust, too.

Yes, the old "It only needs a re-gas" assurance!  Rolling Eyes
