Can anyone help? I lost the key to my Pajero last Sunday and don't have a spare! There's a possibility that it's in the car, which has then locked itself. There's also a possibility that it's been accidentally dropped into the recycling, never to be seen again. How do I get into it to find out? And, if I manage that and it's not there, how do I get another one?
I wanted to check with you before throwing myself at the mercy of the garage I bought it from.
Thank you for reading this, hope you can help,

Viv

If you are a member of the AA and/or RAC, they should be able to help you get in. I have AA membership through my bank account, so worth checking with your bank, if you haven't taken an individual policy out.

As for getting another key........ I would contact your local Mitsi Dealership, or a decent locksmith........ there has to be a way of getting the details of the key from the VIN No or a code on a lock barrel somewhere...... I expect that they will want proof of ownership before they will deal with it, if they can.

I destroyed my only key and the locksmith was unable to copy from it so i removed the lock from the fuel cap (small clip on back of lock, easy) and took it to the locksmith 2mins later i had 2 keys cut for £6.  Il just try and find the key blank number as you dont have the priveledge of waving it at him and saying i want one o these

Hope that helps

ORION (ITALY) : MS8AP .  This should be recognisable to all locksmiths for the blank key, regards to simon for this info in one of his posts

If you remove the lock from the fuel filler it has the key number stamped on it. If its the same as the doors? or unless somebody has ground the number off. There was a spate of the fuel filler locks getting stolen only to find a day or 2 later the rest of the car went.  Twisted Evil
