I have a Shogun 3.2 55reg just turned 100,000 miles. Theres a rattle/ tapping and I'm not not sure if it's comming from the timing chain or tappets? Are the tappets adjustable?
The noise is only noticeable up to 2200rpm under load, above that or ease off the throttle the noise is gone!
Any one have any similar experience or problems?
Many thanks..

Sorry for been so slow with a reply but my iPad got damaged!
I've replaced the tensioner and the top guide. The chain and the other guides appear to be fine. So put it all back together and the rattle is still there!!
Can any one tell me where to take the measurement when setting the tappits ? I'd assume at the end of the rocker over the valve but I've been told you can check between the cam and the rocker roller. Not heard of this method before to be

Any help/ advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I forgot to say that the rattle/pinking noise is worse when the engine is cold.

Thanks all.

You might want to post this query in the appropriate section, this is the Insurance section..., you will probably get more answers  Wink
