well i was fed up trying to find a decent roof rack for the pajero so decided why not have a bash at making my own, that way i can make it to the size i want and im also going to mount it direct to the roof
will post more pics when finished, just got the side bars to pop rivet on and then do the mounts for the feet, at the moment ive stripped the head lining out so should be quite easy to sort out

total cost for the 25mm square tubing, tubing connectors and 18 pieces of 3mm alloy flat bar plus the rivets comes to about £140.
now that sounds expensive but at the end of the day i get the exact size and dimension i want, i think its worth it and to be honest i think it could probably be made cheaper if you know someone in the trade maybe |

well ive now almost finished the rack, its all been bolted into place direct to the roof, am very pleased with it.. not too light and not too heavy.. just right for what i wanted.. now ive just got to finish off plasti dipping the roof black which will match the rest of the car and also create a rubber protective layer for the roof and the roof rack fixings.. just need to fit my sunvisor and spots and this old ugly ducking will look good once more..
total price for all the alloy and fixings im guessing has cost me about £145.. but ive got the exact lenght , width and height i wanted...

First you made Mudflaps and now you've made a Roof Rack. You've obviously got too much time on your hands |

well i managed to finish off the plasti dip spray job on the roof, am really pleased how it went on, totally changes the look of the paj, just need to get the corners of the rack finished and bolt it back on.
decided to plasti dip the snorkel as well to give it a new look..

Been watching since you started and must say you've made a first class job
You've made it to what you want which is the biggest thing and know you've finished you can start on mine |

I know this thread is very old, but i found it trough the search.
Sadly the pictures went offline.
I'd love to see them, since i'm trying to figure how to build one too...
Could you post them again? |
