The 3.8 has 90mm stroke.
The 3.5 has 85.8mm stroke.
The rods are the same length.
The 3.8 pistons are shorter in compression height to make up the difference. |
So can one replace the 3.5 pistons by 3.8 pistons? |

Swede joe has recently been banned so dont ecpect an answer from him
personally i would take any info he has supplied previously with with a pinch of salt as it seems he was a disgruntled former member who returned and gave some very odd and confusing advice very often tbh |

Need to a be chiseled block under pistons diameter 3.8. Since 3.8 pistons are shorter, the compression ratio is reduced - as a result of the loss of power.
Provided that the crankshaft with 3.8.
If the crankshaft with 3.5, piston with 3.8, it is even worse.
Why Joe banned? |

if he is indeed banned then only admin would know the true reason as to why,in my opinion he was giving bad advice to members, which could of cost members a lot of money, this club is the best one around and has been for a lot of years, yes there are time,s when members have difference,s or opposite opinions but the majority are straight forward and helpful, and have probably saved members thousands of pounds over the years, and that,s how we want this club/forum and hopefully it will stay that way for many years to come |

Hmm ... It is strange. I do not completely agree with Joe, but what he wrote is in many ways consistent with our study Evo engine repair. With regard to this topic, he wrote a good knowledge. |

Joe 90 was a pseudonym for a previous member called Magn1t - who was banned a while ago - Admin posted the reason on another thread.
Many of us remember Magn1t for his misleading advice and he was banned but he came back as Joe 90. |

I was already wondering how just swapping pistons for shorter ones would help as, with the same crankshaft, you'd lose compression.
Is the 3.5 the same block? So with a new crank and pistons it goes to 3.8? |

Swede, write simpler, please. And then I have difficulties with the translation.
Clarification:
It did my friend.
I admit, nothing was calculated. About compression ratio, this assumption.
Establish ad looked at it all stopped.
It is necessarny to calculate everything precisely to make sure. But at the moment, this question no one is not engaged. He is now building Evo competition and spends it all forces, resources and thoughts.
You wrote that you are interested in any information. So I shared what we have today.
TDC:
Block 3.5, crankshaft and piston 3.8 non mivec.
Block 3.5, crankshaft and piston 3.5
