I removed the EGR valve on my Pajero which made quite a difference to its performance, now have a 2002 l200 which  I would like to do the same with however I have been told that its not a good idea on this age of vehicle as the ECU needs to see the EGR, true or not.

This listing claims that the ECU is told to keep the EGR closed instead of removing it and having warning lights...

Alternatvely this cheap one is fitted after the EGR which remains in place, he refers to drilling a hole in it to fool the ECU...?
