2005 Shogun sat nav display issues

I have a 2005 Shogun 3.2 with satnav, and the display screen has been dead for a while.  Local garage checked it and told me the display unit was defunct.  I've replaced this, and although I get power to the unit, and I get a dim white glow from it, I don't get anything other than that.  I can toggle between display and sat nav using the display button on the radio/d (changes from low white glow to dark).   Any clues as to what is going on?

Any thoughts gratefully received
