|
|
Hi guys, long time no posts...... I'm getting a trailer made out here to tow my quad bike and off-road bike at same time. Electrics on towing equipment here are a grey area..... coming into force via Dubai RTA but not pan emirates yet, mainly due to changes in the trailer registration regs. A welcome move IMO on safety grounds. Mitsubishi UAE don't supply a kit but trailer places do.....
Anything to consider / be aware/wary of?
I have had a bad experience with a "professionally" fitted kit frying the electrics on my old E46 318d, as it was early CAN-BUS and poorly fitted, had to fix it myself! Read in one of the other posts that the first of the current shape (MY06/07 roughly) are all CAN-BUS so wary......
Advice / experience shared appreciated. Cheers. |

Are these available online / via mail order? Mitsubishi UAE don't sell them in the UAE!!! |

Cheers.... Where can I buy the kit from? Looks straightforward to fit if its all plug and play.
I'm in Abu Dhabi but happy to courier, just about to take delivery of a 2x2.5m loading area trailer. Driving our here is a bit mental, remote brake and indicators would be useful! |

I have just looked up the instructions and can confirm the kit is the same for lhd/rhd. Yes it is plug and play, no cutting or joining of cables, just two link wires that have to be fitted, one in the lh footwell and one in the engine compartment.
You should be able to find one online with a seller prepared to ship to the UAE. |

Got the new trailer this week, comes fully wired with a yellow flashing beacon (assume it linked to the brakes like the truck trailers here) with a US style 7-pin (blade connectors) - any ideas on US based companies who do overseas shipping for Mitsubishi parts? |

Do you not have a Mitsubishi dealer or service point who can order any parts you need if you give them the part number? |

Forgot to add.... yes, they supplied the tower and the big chrome bull bar for the back..... I asked them two years ago about it and was told "not required by law, its ok, so we don't sell them".... tried a few times, including a few weeks ago as it is now becoming the law (in Dubai but not in the other Emirates..... that and trailer registration, which is good)..... nothing from them apart from not required!
I'm in Abu Dhabi now.... maybe try calling the old service centre in Al Quoz (DXB) to see if they do them now but doubt it.... car due its 100,000km service (timing belts) soon, will try again but getting a bit fed up with them. Used to work in a motor factors come accessory place when I was an engineering student, so confident I could fit the OEM kit.... just need to find it.
Had my fingers burned before though, took my E46 318d to a local "specialist" and it was badly fitted, had to fix it myself and the kit they used fried the CAN-BUS controller on my car..... OEM all the way if I can source it for the Pajero. |
