Spotted this at a car show today, owner was called Gary and was into Jap 4x4's, must admit i never really went for the Delica but seeing his one I'm tempted,
Had a long chat about Shoguns/Pajero 4m40t engines,
He reckons the reason my 2.8 is under powered and chucking out smoke is the turbo is on its way out and the inlet exhaust gasket needs replacing as I am getting  bit of exhaust gas out from it.

+1

The trailing arms and the sections they hinge from look bang the same as mine.  Those are clean, but in 'Red Oxidization' whereas mine are 'Masterguard UBC black' and currently covered in mud.

The springs look a lot heavier though.

Yep, they're good cars, very versatile, with tons of space in them.

we had one for about 4 years, then sold it and missed it, so I've had 2 more in the interim, before getting this one - which is now my daily driver

I still have a LWB Paj and a SWB offroader, and a SWB gdi paj though  Wink

For some reason mine doesn't seem to get photographed.

For e.g.  I was taking some pictures of my offspring during a break from cleaning up:

Pretty standard really...  three screens, some more additional ICE type stuff, wider/nicer rims and 100w floodlights where those original fogs were... and that's about it.

Well they are claimed to be a "bag for life"...  but generally wont do more than a few miles without a significant puncture.

At least you get a free replacement for every torn one you take back to the store.

Hi there wave

Having recently owned one, I would say go for it ..... but ... always a but .... be damned careful otherwise you will kiss a lot of frogs.

Ours was an absolute dream, or so we thought, we looked for all the usual 2.8 problems and warning signs, none of which were present. Mechanically she was a sweetie with a real bite because off road they take on a completely new personality and really come into their own, I certainly never managed to get ours stuck and I have the whole of Salisbury plain to play on.

Then, one day, just after some local floods, we hit a really bad pot hole and I noticed a load of 'stuff' fall onto the road. I immediately got her up on her stands when we got home and sure enough, the entire front section of the subframe & monocoque chassis was being held together with filler and fiberglass which was now mostly one big hole that extended right from the front bumper shunts back across the wheel mounts and suspension mounts back to where it joins the main frame. .. off she went to the scrap yard. However, despite that, while we had that truck, on road and off road I have never driven a more comfortable or capable vehicle come rain shine or snow!
