I'm just after some quick feedback from the photos below, as my 98 Shogun is due an MOT to put her back on the road. Obviously the sharp edges need patching up, but in general does it look bad/good/ok? I can't see any rust near the seatbelt joints, but am worried about the undercarriage... Thanks for any pointers

There is nothing there that can't be sorted by a competent welder.
Check the chassis rust by stabbing it with a screwdriver to see if it is just surface rust - mine looked similar to that but was only flakes of surface rust and there was solid metal underneath.
With a bit of hard work and time it can be made to look like this

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will have a poke around and see. What if pipes and things like that are rusty - would that count as corrosion and need replacing, and is this possible to check before getting the MOT? |

If the pipes have just a bit of rust then that is often an advisory.
In the past, with iffy cars, I've taken them for a MOT and then mended what it failed on. Often there is no retest fee if you take it back to them within a certain period of time. |
