Hi,
I'm just after some advice please so I don't get ripped off by mechanic.
My NP Pajero has run rough a few times now, randomly over the last 2 months. It sputters and losses power and coughs like a petrol running out of gas. After turning the car off and waiting a few minutes it then runs fine. I feel like the car might wobble a bit more on idle, as if it's a hundred revs lower or something. The first time it happened I thought I ran out of diesel because I pushed it really close but then started up again so I'm wondering if I've sucked something into the filter. I'm dreading this is the fuel pump failing.
Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Nick

Nick, my 2006 has suddenly got the same problem, immediately thought it was fuel filter replaced and the problem went away for2 weeks. Not started again, took the fuel tank out to inspect it is spotless inside.no engine light coming on. I will continue to search and will post if we get to the bottom of it.

Yea changed filter too with no difference. Seems to get worse now and engine seems a bit rattlier. Only happens after 30 mins of driving.
Must be pump but no smoke and no fault codes.

Nick U, thank you - bad news this side cat was OK driving to work this morning 2 hours later needed to go out and the car refused to start. No engine light no smoke just spins over without firing. Common rail or common problem?
