Hi folks, I'm midway in installing a 1998 3.0 V6 24V Shogun GLS engine into my Pajero which had a V6 GDI lump in it.  My problem is, the Shogun engine comes fitted with an immobiliser and my sparks has asked me to get it switched off within the ECU.  Now, to save messing around, I'm wondering if the ECU from a Pajero would work as I don't think the Japs fitted immobilisers in their cars till fairly recently.  Can anyone who owns `98 PAJERO V6 24V 3.0 let me know if 1. it does have an immobiliser and 2. if it doesn't, what the part number for it is please.  This will save me an awful lot of grief and not to mention, quite a few bob if I can swap out the ECUs.  Many thanks. Smile

Not as far as I know, mate.  Seems it runs a signal to the ECU as well.  If I can shut that off then I don't need that part.

Just to update, I've been told by one company that these can't be disabled and while so far no one else I've contacted has said that they have all said they can't do it.  Ho hum.

there must be a way around it though,i am no expert but maybe you need the ecu with the key and barrel and any other ecu that all match up to operate the immobiliser system..... Question

Hi mate, there is a way around it but it still needs to be traced back to the ECU which is no easy job, especially as they seem to change the colour at every junction so you can't just say it's that particular wire at the ECU end.  My local Mitsi dealer in Gatwick has been good enough to let me take photos from their workshop manuals so I might have a chance with those.  Interestingly, their workshop manuals for a Shogun have Pajero written all over them.  So not as much difference as I've been led to believe.
