The garage wont be able to tell from a visual inspection if the head is cracked or not. Dont fit a recon one and dont fit new cheap one.Get a genuine secondhand one from a reputable breaker.

confirmed cracked head Sad
got a second hand head complete with cams and injectors done 83k
his bottom end had gone so replaced with complete engine
hence the head was for sale
im always a bit wary of ebay sales , but it was either that or £800 for a new amc head
anyway just got the great news the head passed pressure test and skimmed Very Happy
certainly restored my faith in the fact that there are still some honest folk out there
anybody come across a bay seller called mibracing .. don't hesitate , true gent and a pleasure to deal with
now for the rebuild , genuine mitsy head gasket goin on so hopefully that's the end of it
ps I now have a matching set of cams and 4 injectors for sale , would rather sell cams together and injectors together or job lot
cheers dave

Got her back , good job done , only thing is now before head went , heating in cabin was just ok , I presumed that with the new head water pump and stat , temp would improve , I am thinking maybe the heater matrix needs a flush ? Temp is wat I would term as ambient on all positional settings
Has any body done the matrix flush on 3.2 ? Is there a set procedure?
