Correct, although some Mercs, Audis and others are still too bright.

I'm thinking earth the negative and connect the positive to side lights...ive done it before with spots etc

That would work as long as they do not take too much current to blow the 10A sidelight fuse.

It also depends on whether the MOT man tests to see if they do what DRLs are supposed to do. I don't know if they are part of the MOT.

Why do you need DRLs Pete?  The shine on your car must be enough to blind most oncoming drivers!   Laughing

I live in Derby Simon - most drivers here seem to be blind, so more shine the better  Very Happy

That problem isn't unique to Derby. Here we have drivers who pretend to be blind and pull out from a junction knowing full-well that their exit is blocked already. So they hold up traffic in the other direction too.  I tend to leave braking for these guys right until the last moment in the hope that a large 4x4 bearing down on them might act as a deterrent in future.  I wish I'd had a dashcam to capture the terrified expression of the last driver I did this to!  Twisted Evil

I've got front and back facing dashcams ready for when some idiot causes an accident.

Next upgrade planned for my truck is a very loud horn.

Had a Stebel Nautilus on my previous mk2, very loud and good for some shocked faces on offending motorists  Shocked
