My 2004 shotgun sport is still fitted with tyres that were on it when I bought it second hand. I have not been happy with it off-road and now, in snow, it feels actually dangerous. I can barely touch the throttle or brakes without the back-end breaking away. As most people rate it as good off-road I can only assume this is down to the tyres, these are Goodride SU307 245/70/R16. Has anyone any experience of these?

You need proper winter tyres.

Here there is 3 inches of ice on all roads (no gritting) and mine stays perfectly in nick, even when driving at normal 'tarmac' speeds.
