Hi pete.. I've got good news to report, the Pajero is all sorted. I've replaced the ECU and it's all fine. I've checked the time it takes to click out of the afterglow and it's 160 seconds. Only thing is now I have a squicky fan belt till the afterglow goes off... any ideas..
The belts are all good and tight, but like I say once the afterglow is kicked out no noise. I can live with that noise so notbto bothered.. they alternator is charging as I checked that to make sure...
Thanks again for all the help.... |

The glowplugs pull 40-50 amps so the alternator will be under quite a load while they are on. That makes it harder to turn and the belts could squeal.
Your pulleys are probably glazed - bits of rubber from the belts coat the surfaces of the pulleys. Just roughebn them up with a bit of emery cloth and refit the belts.
Glad you got it sorted - it is unusual for a 2.8 ECU to fail. |

Nope - you have enough posts.
Basically -set up a photobucket account and upload your photos to there.
Then copy the "img" link from there and paste it into your post on here. |

Link didn't work - try again
If the switch is the one that seems to work the wrong way round compared with the others then it is for the heated screen. It's not fully heated, just the bottom bit where the wipers sit. It is to defrost the wipers when they are stuck with ice to the screen. |

Hi all.. thanks for all the help with my starting problems, I can now happily report that I've finally fixed it. It turns out that the problem stemmed down to the ECU in the passengers side footwell.. got secondhand one and I'm glad to say all is well. Did have a slight glitch afterwards, I was getting 3mins of squeaking fan belt.. once after glow kicked out it went away.. all it needed was a slight tightening of the belts and all is well.. starts instantly now.. thanks again for all your help ... |
