So I've got a Pajero with a 3.5 GDI engine and recently swapped all 6 injectors since one of them was dud. It's been running smooth since but I have constant water vapour and smoke coming from exhaust even when the engine warms up. The vapour/ smoke doesn't seem to be thick, pretty light but it's present, possible head gasket leak?

before guessing, get a sniff test done on it,also when the injectors were changed did you put the same letter marked injectors in as they are lettered a,b,or c if you put the wrong ones in then that could be your issue... Exclamation

I believe they are C before and the ones put in were C also, I went to start it up today which was took longer than usual then it just died like someone switched it off. Haven't been able to get it to idle since, it'll start after multiple key cycles then sputter and die. I'm thinking fuel issue?

The mirco filters were changed not long ago and some are removed all together, the high pressure pump is the original and hasn't been taken off yet, so when I'm free I'll take it all apart and pull the pump off and give it a thorough clean. Is there anything I should look out for when doing this? I'll be doing a sniff test also when I get it to run again and will report back.

never ever leave out the micro filters, they are there to protect the high pressure pump and injectors as they are expensive and critical parts....i have heard of some people stripping the pump down giving it a clean and it has worked but others have tried and it has done nothing,as these engines are complex you may need to try and get a live data reading done to see if it throws something up,which will point you in the right direction Wink
