Yeah I have sent them the form. All the other insurance companies I had tried don't recognise the registration and I can't tax it until I have the green slip!!!! I will have to drive it back and do it when I get home, bloody DVLA, they don't make it easy do they?

Also didn't realise that a 1996 vehicle would be MORE expensive to insure that a 2001 vehicle of around the same cc.

There were quite a few changes around the 96" time the biggest being the upgraded engine from 125bhp to 140bhp along with electronic fuel pump !

You can check under the hood and if you have the round air filter along with two flying saucers between the pump and head then it's the 140bhp.

Other clues are the 16" rims with the larger front discs along with split folding rear seats and front air bag but not always  Wink
Maybe that's why insurance a little higher although mine never was.

First thing to do irrelevant of history would be a full service including all oils ( diff/auto box ) and filters.
Also check all bushes along with tracking etc  Wink

Enjoy

If yours is the 96" electronic fuel pump you can see a few issues so beware Shocked

Thanks for the info.

Yeah 125bhp. It as serviced by the garage that sold it to this guy last December. Windscreen replaced, all wipers, some bushes & brake pipes, rear pads, front disks and pads.

On the drive home from collection in 2h the top 4h lights were flashing, the temp gauge was dead center (is that correct), but after some time at 60mph the temp went up to 3/4 and when slowing down for a roundabout there was a sort of whine as I slowed, maybe 4WD, the the temp went back to halfway and the top lights were out. A little later after 30mph and 40mph speeds the top light were flashing again. All light stay on when in 4h.

Is that a normal super select issue?

I noticed that the drivers seat does not go back very far for my long legs, there are a few dash bulbs to replace. Should all window switches, other rockers light? Do the pod gauges light up?

The temp gauge in the pod is blank.... what should I check?

Thanks again  Very Happy
