hi i blanked my egr off a couple of years ago on my 3.5 just left everything in place and plugged in just made a plate to go inbetween valve and manifold, ran better no light on, regards mick

Many thanks.......that's good to hear.

I've been using her recently and I've not noticed any problems. I confirmed there were no DTC's with evoscan so I'll carry on until the weather gets better and I can remove the manifold.

Since having had the plenum off my Paj a wee while ago and discovering a monumental amount of coke in it, I had it into a garage and they've removed the plenum and cleaned it in an acid bath.

The bloke reckonned that it was flowing at about 1/2 capacity and had never seen anything quite like it.

He has also blanked the EGR circuit.

I'm picking it up tonight. I'll let you know how it goes...

10 hours of labour if that's any help. It wasn't cheap, but I'm inclined to keep using him because he's like an automotive tuning encyclopedia! He's also quite keen on Mitsubishi GTOs which I believe have very similar engines.

So far I've only driven it back from the garage and while I think I was expecting a more spectacular difference, it has made an improvement. It seems much smoother but not sure if there's any change in the delivery, (that and I've just jumped out of a 300+ bhp GT car so it will feel sluggish in comparisson!).

Will find out tomorrow on the commute.

Well, there is a difference but for the most part I find it difficult to quantify.

The two main things are...

The EGR delete means that it doesn't switch around idle making pulling away and coming to a full stop smoother and...
It's able to maintain motorway speeds much easier rather than having to drop a gear to get to the power.

I think the latter's down to the decoke.

I'll see how it goes and report back if there's anything else I notice.

Interesting.  My local Mitsi say I don't need a decoke but I've ordered some BG 44K to give it a clean out and hopefully add a bit more power.  I think I'll wait to hear more from you chaps about advantages before I go down the road of lifting my EGR valve out but stopping the dropping out at idle and at speed is a definite good thing!

I can't add anything useful I'm afraid.... I've barely done a 100 miles since the MOT.

so , i have done mine, just fitted a steel blank between the valve and inlet manifold,  its been in for a few months now, engine performance seems to be a little perkier , no cels etc, BUT it definitely doesnt drive quite as well when its cold which isnt really a problem as it warms up very quickly,  fuel economy , id say its still pretty bad , on a run im only getting very low 20's at best hard to say if its improved it may even be a bit worse, ive done a couple of oil changes and really wanted to pull the inlet and give it a clean, just havent had time when i havent needed the truck.
