When you blanket off the EGR did you take the inlet manifold off to clean it?
I have just had a new head fitted and all new gasket should have been fitted, them only being fitted for a week will I get away with using the gasket already on or should I get new ones?

I ment to say "take the inlet manifold off and clean it", bit of a no brainer to take it off if your going too Laughing

No mate, you don't need to mess around with it too much, just get yourself a blanking plate which sets between the EGR and the engine, and pull the breather hose
off the egr and stick a screw in it, job done in no time.  Wink

Hi Mark, neat looking job. In the last of your photos showing the two pipes and valves (the contraption that's normally attached to the top end of the intercooler) what do these valves actually do? I blanked my EGR off with a similar kit some time ago and put a screw in a small pipe next to where the EGR was. Are what you saying is these valves are now redundant once the EGR has been removed and what happens then to the electrical connections and is it OK just to disconnect them? Your help would be very useful as I assumed these valves were necessary but it appears not so now.

Dont remember the name. Its my gasket silicon stuff...first time used that.
I am also not sure if it was necessary..
And that earth cable/anode was connected in that bolt..so i put back...
But as i saw in the first post, originally was connected in the manifold shade bolt..
I think its to prevent corrosion...but its the only part in my truck with corrosion!!  Rolling Eyes

I would guess its 'Blue hylomar' useful as its heat resistant and non setting so covers quite a range of jobs.

I think my valves also control the cold start actuator
my paj seems to idle up and down a bit, the egr has been blanked on the side where the pipe to the manifold went and the manifolds been plated but I think this looks wrong, surely the egr should be blanked between the inlet and egr?? a screw has been put in the little suction pipe,

so as my paj has not got the hand choke and it has had this pipe shoved with a screw will this be affecting the cold start solenoid??

sorry to comment on old thread but dont want to get told off for starting new one!
