Let's just take a 4M40 auto box with a leak in an atf cooler, it will stop driving but will it damage the box?

I had a bad leak on my old 2.8 and i didn't realise it had sprung a leak and there was hardly any power from the engine. I pulled up after about half a mile and stopped the car to take a look and it had dumped all the ATF out of the box. I got the paj picked up by green flag and taken to my local mechanic who did the repair and it was fine after this.
Hopefully yours will be the same?

I'm no mechanic so going by mine hopefully it will ok? It was the lack of power that really made me think something was wrong!
The only annoying factor was they put the wrong ATF back in.... That was soon rectified though!

I wouldn't risk driving it far. Just repair the leak and refill to the correct level.
