I have an automatic 1993 petrol 3ltr V6 shogun/pajero and it has an unreliable fuel gauge and consequently ran out of fuel. Topped with a can of petrol and started it. I was on way to garage to fill up and the vehicle stopped. It will not start now. Can anyone help?

Only thing that springs to mind is running it dry has pulled up some gunge from the bottom of the tank and blocked the pipes.
