|

Morning all,
I currently have a 1998 3.0 V6 SWB (MK2 Facelift) which is off the road as it needs new brake lines in the rear. I have started to strip it down with a view to doing some restoration at the same time. However the I look the more I find issues. Currently it needs all new brake lines in the rear and pretty much all the bushes replace all over, new shocks and now I notice that one of the solid lines coming out of the fuel tank (maybe a return line) is literally crumbling in my hands. So with all this in mind I figure I have 3 options.
1. Keep going and make it right.
2. Find another one the same for relatively cheap and make one good car out of the 2 and scrap the rest.
3. Upgrade to a Mk3, but which version. I would like a manual Petrol, but they don't seem to exist.
So my question is this, if I decide to upgrade to a MK3 which is the best one for <£3k. Is the auto box reliable? and which engine?
Thanks for your input. |

brake lines are easy to do as they can be copper the fuel line i use cunifer pipe but i recommend a pipe bender cheap of fleabay,if it,s the rear end bushes then bang some milner off road poly bushes in if it,s the front wishbones then use standard rubber ones the poly ones squeak unless you fit decent ones...as for the mk3 shogun models the petrol ones are all gdi you might be lucky an find a pajero mk3 with either a standard 3 or 3.5 v6,but probably expensive...diesel ones suffer with expensive fuel pump problems |
