Can't seem to find one !
Any pictures of it ?

I am not familiar with the pump on the 2.5, but the image below shows the general position. I understand that some fuel pumps have immobilisers that encase the solenoid to prevent direct access.

Well that's it, sorted.
Fuel shut off solenoid faulty, and replaced.
Running a little lumpy on tick over but revs clean.
I might look at raising the idle speed, to stop it almost stalling.
Otherwise ok.
Thank you all for your help and guidance.

Next thing is glow plug ecu fix / exchange.

It required a bit of persistence though! Wink
Trekker is the guru on all things Mk1. It's well worth acting on his suggestions.

Thanks Simon, your diagram was a great help. Until you posted that I didn't know what to look for, so trekker's advice was not ignored, just lost on me.

Thank you for everyone's help and input.

I don't see many MK1 s on the road anymore, it's good to keep it going.
Owned it for 13years now, this is the first show stopper issue.

Absolutely right. My 22-year-old Challenger has become a hobby, which I never expected it to.

If you can keep in going for another 13 years or so, it will be exempt from both VED and the annual MOT.   Smile

Hi GTI

Glad to help.

It's true, not so many around, but from across the world, owners do write in to the Club for advice and to give help. Australia, Africa, the USA, Canada, Europe come to mind.

I suggest you buy the Haynes Repair Manual, covering 1983 - 96, it's not perfect, but covers our old model fairly well.

Alternatively, send it off for testing and repair, usually not an expensive job, and bench tested before returning to you.  There are such centres in the uk, either Search or others will help.
